Okay… I have to show off my new bottes sauvage. These were made by Mike Tharp and are a common French Canadian boot. These were essentially a boot form of the oxhide shoe or soulier de boeuf. This type of shoe was a European response to the Indian moccasin. It is made with European tanned, heavy leather and with European leather sewing techniques, but with the shape and construction of a native moccasin.
I want a pair! How do I find those today?

I am not sure if he is making the bottes anymore, but he does make shoes.
