Well… the gardens are in full effect! We have been eating peas, green beans, cucumbers, Zucchini (summer squash), onions, and much more. It is nice when things start to ripen and we can EAT. I see that also, the flint corn is doing well, as are the squash, pumpkins, melons, and most everything else. I have been taking a few pictures and plan on doing so throughout the rest of summer and the harvest. As I do, I am updating the images on the gardens page of the website. Having started the website in winter, I have had few and poor images. I hope to get that remedied by fall.
Chickens… We have now butchered our meat birds, and I cooked one up last night!!!! VERY good. Our new layers are slowly getting bigger and I should easily be able to add them to the laying flock by fall. The new coop is mostly finished and I will be taking photos and posting them soon. Meanwhile, we are getting 5-6 eggs a day from our 5 hens and the rooster is quite content.
