One spring activity that is not only ancient but a multi-ethnic historical endeavor here in Wisconsin is maple sugaring. The taking of maple sap and boiling it down to syrup or sugar has been done for hundreds (if not thousands) of years in WI by native peoples, and European decent folks that moved into WI quickly followed suit. Even more Verdigris

Well… I let another batch of copper get green, dissolved it, and used it to dye some porcupine quills. They soaked for about a month, but they did finally take a decent color. The jar that I originally made and dissolved the verdigris in never got cleaned and the verdigris solution and copper sat and got very “nice.” I am thinking of drying it out good into crystals to save for future use.
