Warm weather and warm hats

The weather is ridiculously warm out!!  In spite of this, Hilary is kicking out some cool new hats.  On an order, she made her interpretation of the Gen. Carleton of Whitby hat (found on the wreck of the ship of that name).The original…

More fun is that Hilary has been wanting to do an interpretation of these hats from the Rijksmuseum…

We are running low on white wool and she didn’t have the dark, but she did have a nice olive and madder red so she made on like the red and green above.  The gauge is off some (knowingly) due to yarn weight and etc.  Hilary wanted to keep this closer in size and gauge to a lot of the single tuques she makes, although to fine up the gauge a little, she did drop down a few sizes in needles.   Here is her version…

Now we need to get some white and dark wool to apply this to the other cap.
