A new sash…

I have been wanting a bit fancier of a sash for awhile, especially considering that I now am doing a lot of 1790s-1810s period stuff when finger-weaving really got amazing.  I have owned a number of sashes over the years and have not been fully satisfied with most historically.  I have settled into a couple all red, fairly plain finger-woven sashes.  My main sash is a simple red sash with a few white beads woven in that was...

NW Gun … a few more thoughts

I took the new NW gun out a few days ago and put some powder and lead through it.  I was just in the back yard and was shooting at 30-35 yards without a rest.  It shot fairly well.  I had some ignition issues and the trigger pull was a bit tough, but it shot straight and on the mark considering my frustrations.  I should probably note that the trigger pull issue is as much me as it is the gun.  I am a bit psycho about...

Unfortunately, there are no NW guns...

Bison Robe

Photo Journal of the Yellow River trip

Well, thanks to the photographs of a number of friends as we left the Yellow River Post (Ric and Berit, Kiri, Jim, etc.) and to a stash camera of Mike K.’s that came out a couple times to document parts of the trip; I have some fun photos to share here. Also, I have been re-reading a number of journals from this area since returning and am now feeling better about or quitting early due to mishaps and misfortunes.  My...
